About TEP

Trainee Expansion Programme (TEP)

Welcome to the Trainee Expansion Programme (TEP), the very first program tailored for trainees and early career professionals interested in human milk and lactation research!
Developed by International society for Research in Human Milk and Lactation (ISRHML) and the Family Larsson-Rosenquist Foundation (FLRF), the TEP is an international early career expansion program. The TEP is for ISRHML members who are graduate students, recently graduated students, postdoctoral fellows, early career scientists, and clinicians or those who have recently completed professional training to participate in short- and long-term research-related activities in the field of human milk and lactation.

Our goal is to cultivate and promote trainee talent and the skills necessary for academic and career development in human milk and lactation. We aim to provide trainees with unique opportunities, such as:

  • working in a different lab, discipline or country to learn new techniques and gain new perspectives
  • moving into the field of human milk and lactation
  • making their research more widely applicable
  • developing an interdisciplinary and international scientific network
  • transcending cultural or language barriers
  • exchanging and sharing ideas and experiences among fellow students and host institutions

The TEP will grant awards on a strictly non-discriminatory basis:
The TEP does not discriminate any applicants on the basis of race, color religion, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, genetic information, age, membership in an employee organization, retaliation, parental status, military service, or other non-merit factor.

TEP provides merit-based funding for two types of projects:

  • Trainee Travel Fund (TTF) for activities achievable within three months
  • Trainee Bridge Fund (TBF) for activities achievable within one year

The following timelines apply:

Trainee Bridge Fund (TBF) application deadline:

 30 June

Trainee Travel Fund (TTF) application deadline:

31 December (of prior year) and 30 June

Selection decisions by the Revision Board:

1 March (TTF only) and 1 September TTF and TBF

Earliest start date of the funded activity:

1 April (TTF only) and 1 October TTF and TBF

We are proud to be pioneers in developing and administering a program for talented young scientists focused on human milk and lactation. We look forward to receiving applications from interested and eligible candidates.
